Butterfly weekend with Mr Foo and Catalina in Malaysia

I had a delightful weekend at Congkak Park & Resort with Catalina and Mr. Foo. Our journey began at 8am from Singapore, and we reached our destination just before 1pm. After reaching, we were joined by Chris, and we noticed some fascinating butterfly activity. While we were making our way to the end of the park, we sighted the usual Malayan Owl. Since it was Catalina's first time seeing this butterfly, I stopped the car so that she could follow it. As she was taking pictures, she also stumbled upon a Common Duffer, which made me extremely happy since it was the first time I had spotted one in Malaysia.

After completing our trail walk with Chris, we emerged to find Mr. Foo enjoying himself with the Jewel Nawab in the nearby open space area. Despite not joining us in the trail walk, he was clearly having a great time with this Jewel Nawab.

The most memorable moment of our trip was when we spotted the Malayan Yellowbottle.

This swift flier was too difficult to capture in a photograph when we first encountered it. However, as we were preparing to leave, it unexpectedly reappeared and landed to puddle, giving us the opportunity to finally take some photos.

And this is us getting our best shots!!

Despite having seen the Great Orange Tip butterfly on multiple occasions, I had never been able to take any good photos of it. However, today proved to be the exception!

Initially, this Autumn Leaf butterfly was attracted to my car tyre, but it eventually settled to puddle on the moist ground.

We concluded our satisfying day of butterflying with a delicious meal at the Korean Town in Ampang.

The following day, we visited Bukit Tinggi, although it wasn't the best day for butterfly sightings.

Nonetheless, we enjoyed a refreshing walk around the Botanical Garden. Catalina managed to take some great shots of the Smaller Wood Nymph, White Bar Bushbrown, and a few other species that I had photographed in the past.

I was especially delighted to capture a shot of the Great Fivering, a relatively uncommon species that I was informed about.

As the weather became overcast, we decided to return to the Congkak area.

We drove straight to Gunung Nuang and stopped at my usual spot, where to our immense joy, a Four Bar Swordtail appeared and began puddling near a patch of feces right after we got out of the car. The butterfly was so engrossed in feeding that I was able to slowly remove the feces without disturbing it.

It flew around frequently, but would pause each time to puddle on different spots. We spent a delightful time photographing it and ended another wonderful day!
