Turf Club Butterfly Survey, Singapore

I was invited by Steven Chong to join his NSS friends to conduct a survey on this interesting piece of green just next to the Karting Arena for the purpose of assessing future development plans by the owner.

Being stuck in Singapore for almost a year now and not being able to travel overseas had been most disappointing.  I have only been able to explore the usual places in the nature reserves for the butterflies and a new place to explore at the invitation of Steven was most welcoming.

We started our survey after 9.30m on the yellow markings.  It is a place for outdoor activities and cyclists.  There were steep slopes and rather challenging for cyclists, and we had to ensure we kept out of the way of the cyclists.

The survey ended about 11.45am. I have always been curious of the butterflies activities in the Eng Neo greenery areas and today was a good opportunity to be able to explore the surrounding areas.

It was rather pleasing to find a mature plant of the Aristolochia acuminata with a Common Birdwing seen flying high above.

Here are some of the butterflies shot today.
